Meaningless Meaning

I knew an Elaine

Who tried to explain

The scalding rain

Swept down the drain.

‘Twas called mundane,

Yet she’ll maintain

Her lasting bane.

Considered insane,

She got profane

And tried to refrain,

In absolute pain

Her utter disdain.

She’d only complain

With nothing to gain.

Nor way to contain

The broken chain

Once used to detain

Or harshly restrain

‘Cause others do ordain

The tiniest of grain

From a faulty brain

That cannot abstain

On paper plain

With blue-lined stain

Naught meant to pertain

Lest bother retain

As all is in vain.

So I’m going to read

All over again.
