The Boys of Barronhurst

by | May 20, 2008 | Poetically Correct

They say:
No man is an island.

What about Woman?

This fruit-bearing
Parcel of land.
A haven for all
Who seek comfort
In an Ocean of Tears.

Mother to the Son.

I say:
Each boy taught to pretend
He is indeed an Island,
Raging and resting
In the bosom of the Earth,
Shall always return
To the caul,
Enveloped and
Forever dependent
Upon Her will.
